Thank you for joining us at Federal Budget Breakfast 2026.

On 14 May 2026, Chatswood Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2026 Federal Budget Breakfast, bringing together over 90 Chamber members, business leaders, and local stakeholders for a morning of economic insights, discussion, breakfast, and networking.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Acting President Jam Xia. We were delighted to welcome Troy Hancock, Director of Financial Markets at Westpac Institutional Bank, and Ryan Wells, Economist at Westpac Institutional Bank, as our featured economic commentators.

Ryan shared valuable insights on gas prices, business survey pressures, inflation, consumer confidence, fuel costs, consumer spending, and key Federal Budget outcomes and measures. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A moderated by Troy Hancock, covering productivity, skilled migration, AI and employment, superannuation, local council budgets, business support initiatives, negative gearing, capital gains tax, investor confidence, AI business valuations and the broader economic outlook.
We sincerely thank the members and friends from the business community who contributed questions, including Rick Doran from Doran Commercial, Peter Polgar from Reanda Australia, Jason Lin from Jamesons Strata Management, Diane Chun from D-Bolt Fitness, Warren Seeto from Otees Advisory, Kevin Kim from Westpac SME & Small Business Banking, and Dr William Yiu from Sunrise Dental.

We also thank Tim James MP, Member for Willoughby, for sharing State Government perspectives, and Mayor Tanya Taylor of the City of Willoughby, for updating guests on Council’s draft budget, local business priorities, and the public feedback survey open until 26 May 2026.

It was wonderful to welcome VIP guests and community leaders, including President Tamara Keniry and Committee Member Gemma Simons from Mosman Chamber of Commerce; Secretary Steven Spanton from North Sydney Business Chamber; Executive Committee Member Stacy Henderson from Bondi & Districts Chamber of Commerce; Vice President Jane Thorpe from Macquarie Park Ryde Business Chamber of Commerce; President Vincent Lim from Haymarket Chamber of Commerce; and Eastern Sydney President Connie Mastroianni from Business NSW, as well as representatives from NSW Police Force, Service NSW Business Bureau and Willoughby City Council.
