Congratulations to the newly elected Board of the Chatswood Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber plays an important role in supporting local businesses, fostering connections and contributing to the ongoing success of Chatswood as one of Sydney's premier business destinations.
Supporting a strong local economy remains a key priority for Willoughby City Council. Our 2026–27 budget continues to invest in the infrastructure, public spaces and services that help businesses and communities thrive.
For the coming financial year, Council will invest around $200 million in delivering our Community Strategic Plan, including $40 million in capital works across roads, footpaths, parks, facilities and public spaces. These investments help create vibrant, accessible and attractive centres where people want to work, visit, shop and spend time.
Chatswood remains the economic heart of our city and the Cultural Heart of the North Shore. Withapproximately 75 per cent of spending in Chatswood coming from visitors rather than residents, it is essential that we continue investing in a city centre that is competitive, welcoming and well connected.
Council also continues to support local businesses through our Local Centres Support and Activation Program, business mentoring initiatives, networking opportunities and events that drive visitation and encourage people to shop local. Programs such as Lunar New Year, Emerge Festival and Support Local continue to bring people into our centres and strengthen economic activity across the city.
I look forward to continuing to work with the Chamber and local businesses to support a strong, resilient and vibrant local economy.
Yours in Community,
Mayor Tanya
