Community Safety & Crime Update – May 2025
New Recruits
NSPAC welcomed 11 new probationary constables who have recently joined our local police area command, strengthening frontline services and community presence.
Northbridge Incident Update
An investigation is ongoing following a brawl in Northbridge involving approximately 20 youths. Police are actively reviewing CCTV footage and social media content to identify those involved. Charges are expected as inquiries progress.

Domestic Violence
Police continue to prioritise Domestic and Family Violence prevention and response through:
Operation Amarok IX (Statewide targeting of known DV offenders):
Operation X is now underway from 14–17 May.
The NSPAC Doorbell Camera Initiative continues in partnership with Bunnings to improve home safety.
Victims are encouraged to download the “Empower You” app – a discreet tool for recording and reporting abuse.
Also, a reminder that Coercive Control legislation commenced on 1 July.
Break & Enter – Commercial (66 incidents total)
There has been a noticeable spike in March and April.
Two offenders, known to target cafés and takeaway shops, have been identified and charged.

Do not leave valuables or cash in plain view

Leave empty cash drawers open

Consider installing simple security cameras (e.g. from Bunnings)

Strike Force Sweetenham remains active, focusing on youth-related break-ins.
Tips to secure your home:

Install a car tracker, especially for high-end vehicles

Secure all doors, windows, and pet doors
Scams
The Blessing Scam continues to target seniors aged 65+.
The NSPAC Multicultural Liaison Officer role is currently vacant, but support remains available.

21 March 2025: An 18-year-old male is in custody after the sexual assault of a female McDonald’s employee walking home from work.
